THE LONDON SHOWBAND FAQ (FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS)

1) How much space do we require?
You would not believe how small some of the spaces we have played in have been!
A rough guide of a decent size is 4-5 metres across and 3-4 metres deep, larger stages are no problem at all.
The absolute minimum is 3.5 metres across and 2.5 metres deep.
2) What is meant by “we provide our own PA, Lighting and background music for times we aren’t on stage”?

PA: This is the sound system. We have our own PA system that we bring and use inclusive of the price. |

LIGHTING: We have several fixed coloured gel lights that are focused on the band to illuminate us! Again this is inclusive of the price. |

BACKGROUND CDs: We will provide background music over the PA system for people to listen to or carry on dancing if they wish. We can provide suitable music for dinner or whatever you wish – again inclusive of the price. |
3) How much do the London Showband charge?
Prices vary depending on the location of the gig.

It is worth noting that all our musicians are full time professionals.
You will find our price outstandingly reasonable – especially
considering the quality you are getting.
What sets us apart from other bands is our unique horn section.
They are a slick, well rehearsed, extensively choreographed section with
the aim of entertaining through their moves! See our

4) How long do we play for?
Our show contains 2 sets of 1 hour duration each.
If you require a further set, it can be arranged at an additional cost.
5) Do you have Demos?
Yes! We have several demo options:

It is well worth noting that both CD recordings are done as LIVE recordings. They are not recorded in a studio as you will find most band’s demos are. So what you are hearing is what you will get!
6) Where do we travel to?
The London Showband is based in London & Surrey, and as you might expect costs increase with distance from our base location. For travel over 5 hours, overnight accommodation is also required. We are prepared to travel anywhere.
The best thing to do is contact us for a quote, as every gig is different!
7) It's our Wedding. What do we play as a first dance?

Please check with us since the set list is growing all the time and we may have the number you want already available. Given long enough notice, (two months minimum) we would be happy to make a special arrangement for you but this would require an additional arrangement fee. Otherwise, quite often we have put on a CD of the couple’s favourite song, whilst the band are on stage. From there we go straight into the first set.

9) Do we do requests?
We are sorry but we are normally unable to accommodate requests on gigs, because it is impossible for 10 people to ‘busk’ a song together! However, where we already hold the arrangement in our set list requests are possible.
Given sufficient notice we can arrange any song, but would charge an arrangers' fee. Normally at least two months notice is required.
10) Can you see us performing live?
Occasionally we put on promotional gigs where the public
are most welcome – contact us to find out when the next one is.
However, most of our engagements are for private functions so permission
for a visitor is often difficult to obtain.
Failing that – don’t forget our Instant Downloads of Music
and Video, and also ask for a demo CDs
and DVD! THEY ARE LIVE!!
11) What requirements do the band have?

FOOD/DRINK: If the band has to be at the venue for more than 5 hours they will require a meal and refreshments. |
|
CHANGING/STORAGE: We do need somewhere to store cases if possible. This is not essential however, but we do like to have a tidy stage to make the best impression. If need be we can improvise! It is useful for us to have a room to congregate away from your function when we aren’t performing. |

PARKING/UNLOADING: Essential. We must have good access to the venue to load and unload our heavy equipment. |
|
POWER: Essential! A minimum of two 13 Amp sockets within 10m of the stage, preferably with a certified Earth Leakage protection device. |
12) What do the band wear?
We wear all black for the cool atmosphere of Soul! We are flexible on this - contact us if you have special requirements.
